Hillsborough Home

To revitalize this authentic 1961 craftsman house, we updated the interior while staying true to its exterior elements and remodeled the entire back patio and pergola.

We nurtured the home’s integrity by preserving many of the original built-ins including the wainscoting, cabinetry and millwork. We refreshed the fireplace, banquet, and bathrooms to harmonize them with the rest of the home. New paint, both interior and exterior, grounded and cohered the atmosphere of the space in various blues and cool, muted tones. We replaced the back deck and brought in resilient outdoor pieces that rhyme with interior patterns to ensure our clients could relax as comfortably outside as inside.

Our clients–a family of five with three children–now have a unique space for everyone, including playful bedrooms for the kids with colorful accent pieces. They trusted our design style and we shared their appreciation for art which fills their home. We furnished the space with robust work from local artists and sourced the tile from a Bay Area company to deliver a durable, livable space with fresh energy and homages to the original style.
