London Home
This high-end, five-story home in London was constructed in 1820 between Kensington Palace and Holland Park in a historic, regal neighborhood. To maintain its period flair and pay homage to the Italianate Victorian architecture, we protected the original exterior, as well as ornate elements within the home including the gorgeous iron balusters in the curved staircase, the tile in the solarium, and dentil molding throughout, which we painted with a lovely contrast to the white walls. These served as touchstones for a complete, modern renovation that expressed our clients’ contemporary tastes.
We upgraded the home’s entire infrastructure, installing modern fixtures, appliances, updated plumbing and radiant heating. With specific color palettes in mind, each room became a distinct work of art tuned to our clients’ daily habits and needs. Hand-painted wallpaper and soft goods from local fabricators adorn the walls and all the carpeting was custom-colored and made by hand. In the kitchen, we designed custom, black walnut cabinetry capped in powerful white quartzite marble slabs.
These spaces are furnished with eclectic yet coherent pieces, from the period furniture of the study to the original Art Deco items like the wood bed frame in the primary bedroom and the yellow armchairs in the reception room.
Our total transformation of this home highlights some of our most comprehensive work and the fun we have with a high degree of freedom and a detailed vision from our clients.
